Despite the fact that controlling of the compressor installation became more advanced, the check of the shaft seal is only visual. It cannot be monitored from the control room. The control system will indicate the problem when the shaft seal failure has already occurred.
It can cost unexpected stop of the production and maintenance costs.
Furthermore, a failure of the seal can expose the personnel and environment to the refrigerant.

Our shaft seal is “built –up” of two independently working seals.The RM shaft seal is not cooled by the lubrication oil used in the compressor package, but has his own cooling system with a RM-Buffer fluid system. In case the product seal fails the buffer fluid will leak into the compressor and a pressure switch or level indicator will give an alarm. The compressor can stay in operation while the secondary seal will take over the sealing. A production stop can be planned and the seal can be changed.
