Effective sealing system saves money...

Effective application of mechanical seals creates an opportunity to improve compressor unit reliability and availability, and increase plant productivity.
 
Moreover, it represents frequently overlooked savings opportunities.  

Usually, if the seal fails the compressor unit must stop at once and immediate action must be taken. In most cases the compressor needs to be isolated from the system and de-pressurized. This creates unexpected work and reduces plant capacity. RM came up with a perfect solution: a double shaft seal with a pre-warning system. Sounds great doesn’t it?
However, it can take time before the customer will see the benefits of this solution.  

One of our customer argued with us that the RM sealing concept is far too sophisticated (read too expensive). As he said, “the seals are not all that expensive” and he would be happy changing them, whenever they failed. It turned out that blistering and dry running conditions forced him to replace the seal frequently.  

Two years later when we met again, he objectively agreed that the total cost of the loss of production, the additional parts and labour required for the system to be rebuilt  and the safety and environmental consequences far exceded his anticipations. The total cost of ownership in a year was much more than the price of the RM Support sealing concept.

As you can guess he became a customer. To avoid the recurring ‘dry running’, RM Support designed “a tailor made” seal with its own cooling system and an alternative seal, in addition a pre-warning system was added.

Everyone loves saving money, cutting back, and reducing expenses. However, sometimes there is a tendency to focus on the wrong things.

Optimized sealing systems initially cost more, but eventually you could save tens of thousands in energy consumption, maintenance, and operating costs. Multiplied by the number of seals a the plant, the total impact could be significant.

RM double seals are also an answer to those who aim to  reduce power generation emissions and preserve natural resources.

The RM Sealing concept is not an “out of the shelf” solution; it is individually designed to handle specific needs. Despite the fact that, our mechanical seal is “tailor-made” it will fit standard compressors, no extensions are required.
